Cupcakes Everywhere!

Tuesday's activity was Cupcake Decoration. It was very popular. Marc had to quickly get out of the way as sixty students rushed forward in a decoration frenzy. "I thought they were going to decorate me, it was scary," he said.

Decoration begins.

The girls choose their cupcakes carefully.

Roman adds a squirt of chocolate.

There was some confusion about what should be decorated.

Jamaal carefully adds tiny marshmallows as Perrine watches on.

Ana Maria and Julia proudly display their finished cakes.

More completed cakes.

Luis is happy with his. Clever use of the case to keep it contained.

Lots of different styles of decoration here.

 More proud decorators.

Time for that first bite. Julia shows the way.

Beautiful cupcakes and by the looks of it delicious too.

Game of Gnomes

The activity this Tuesday was Gnome Decoration.

It was the first time that this activity had been done by Studio.

The students started with blank gnomes. Gnomes live in gardens, in among the plants.

It was so popular there weren't enough gnomes to go around. So some students teamed up, each bringing the cultures and traditions of their own countries to the decoration.

Gnomes with red hats, blue hats and green hats appeared.

There was a lot of concentration.

Red-faced gnome.

Spotty-shoe gnome.

Cheery-cheeked gnome.

Terrifying gnome hiding behind some paint.

Eyelashes gnome.

Robber gnome.

Alice made a smurf style gnome.

Natalia made a sun-burnt gnome.

Ana-Luisa made a ginger bearded gnome that matched her top.

Andressa was the creator of eyelash gnome.

Vittorio and Xavier teamed up to created this scary looking gnome.

Aida looks happy with her chirpy gnome.

Yuto made Santa gnome, complete with present.

Brazilian gnomes all in a row.

 Very pleasant Japanese pastel gnomes.

Photographic gnomes.

Gnome making was such a success that it had spectators.

Some students stayed until the very end, putting the last touches onto their gnomes.

Most of the gnomes went home with their creators, but a few were gifted to Studio. Expect to see them lurking in the garden soon.

I heart Cab

On Tuesday in Cafe Studio it was time for T-shirt decoration. T-shirt decoration is a Studio classic; simple, artistic and open to interpretation. Slogan, picture or signed with the names of your many international friends? Striking or elaborate? To cut or not to cut?  These are all questions.

Teacher, Ray, got swept up on the excitement, as the students started planning their designs.

Julia went with cutting, removing the sleeves with some deft chopping.

An intense silence fell across the cafeteria as the decorators concentrated.

One monkey...

...became three monkeys.

"Wouldn't it be awful if I missed out a letter?" she said, as she decorated her T-shirt with an "I heart Cambridge" slogan.

In a delicious turn of events this was the T-shirt design one along.

But, drawing on some impressive skills, she only went and saved it.

If anything calls for a group shot it's a blunder made good.

Wait, armband decoration, I didn't agree to this.

Rules broken, time to pose.

Some took the opportunity to demonstrate their new language skills.

T-shirts finished and displayed, signed and worn. Well done folks.
